Denbies Greenfields Cuvee 2004
(Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier). Vineyard location Surrey. The very successful '03 vintage won two International gold medals and best in class equal to the best sparkling white wines in the world. The '03 flew out the door following the widespread publicity after the IWC 2007 competition results this May. So, the only other option is to sample the '04 vintage. Using the favoured champagne grapes this mature wine is fully flavoured with yeast and stone aromas. It is perfect for drinking now and represents excellent value.

Nyetimber's Classic Cuvee was featured on Rick Stein's Christmas special on BBC 2 early December 2005. Oz Clarke, the famed wine author and wine critic, conducted a blind tasting against a very famous Grand Marque champagne, a leading supermarket's own brand Premier Cru Champagne and Nyetimber's Classic Cuvee. Of Nyetimber he said "Unmistakably English and why, because it's the best of the three wines". Oz went on to add almost all Champagne producers would love to be able to make wines of the quality of Nyetimber but simply don't these days due to commercial pressures.
